I'm a writer and editor living in Los Angeles. My first book, Daily Rituals: How Artists Work, was published by Alfred A. Knopf in 2013 and has been translated into 15 languages. A sequel, Daily Rituals: Women at Work, is coming in March 2019.
Previously, I worked as the managing editor of Metropolis, the executive editor of Print, and a senior editor at Core77. In 2007, I created the blog Daily Routines (no longer active), which led to the Daily Rituals books. My freelance writing has appeared in The New York Times and Slate.
