I'm a writer and editor living in Los Angeles. My first book, Daily Rituals: How Artists Work, was published by Knopf in 2013 and has been translated into 15 languages. A sequel, Daily Rituals: Women at Work, came out in March 2019.
Previously, I worked as the managing editor of Metropolis, the executive editor of Print, and a senior editor at Core77. My freelance writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Slate.
In 2007, while procrastinating on a magazine article due the following day, I started the Daily Routines blog, which eventually led to the Daily Rituals books. Naturally, this has made me an even worse procrastinator.
I am currently promoting Daily Rituals: Women at Work and fishing around for ideas for a new book.
